Our Beginning
The Institute for the Pedagogy of Humanity was founded with a simple but profound belief: that learning begins with humanity. From our roots in Cabell County, West Virginia, we are working to advance trauma-responsive, humanistic education at a national level.
What We Do
Our work spans four interconnected areas:
- Research and Knowledge — conducting and disseminating scholarship in educational traumatology
- Educator Support — providing trauma-responsive professional learning for educators at all levels
- Family and Community Initiatives — strengthening the ecosystems that surround learners
- Public Scholarship — contributing to national dialogue on humane education
